HowMuchDoesaPOSSystemCostinSriLanka?(2026PricingExplained)
Most POS vendors hide their prices behind "request a quote" forms. We'd rather you knew the numbers up front — including ours.
What POS systems typically cost in Sri Lanka
POS pricing in the local market generally falls into three buckets:
- One-time legacy desktop software — a large upfront licence, often with paid "AMC" (annual maintenance) on top, no cloud access, and upgrades that cost extra.
- International cloud POS — subscription billed in USD, which means your cost rises with the exchange rate, plus card-payment friction and support in another timezone.
- Local cloud POS (like Accron) — a monthly LKR subscription that includes updates, cloud backup and support.
The hidden costs to ask about
Whatever system you evaluate, ask these before signing:
- Per-terminal fees — is the price per shop, or per till? Two counters can silently double the bill.
- Setup and training charges — some vendors charge heavily for onboarding.
- Hardware lock-in — proprietary printers and cash drawers cost multiples of standard ESC/POS hardware.
- Paid add-ons — inventory, reports or customer management sold as separate modules.
- AMC / upgrade fees — "one-time" software often isn't.
- Exit costs — can you export your data if you leave?

Is a POS worth LKR 5,000 a month?
Put it against what a POS prevents: billing mistakes, unnoticed stock leakage, and hours of manual day-end bookkeeping. For most shops, tightening any one of those pays for the subscription several times over — and you get the sales visibility to make better buying decisions on top.
